Roughly once a year a team of German doctors and helpers flies to Nepal and holds an eye camp in Kathmandu, where hundreds of people each time can get their eyes checked. Those that require an operation are then transferred to the local eye hospital and operated by Nepalese doctors. This is much more cost-efficient than sending all of the equipment to Nepal for this: all of it is already there,
it is simply a matter of making it available to everyone. Our team then takes over the post-treatment and thereby teaches local to take over these pre- and post treatments so that our "external" teams can become smaller over time. Thanks to the help of donations we have so far been able to finance the operation to nearly 400 people.
